The "mainframe methodology" was developed
over several decades and provides rock-solid applications on the large
computers employed by "big" business. We bring the mainframe
methodology to the desktop and the server to provide that
same reliability for small and medium operations as well.

Viking Waters will create the exact report
you need from your existing databases.

Most documentation for customized systems is
notoriously poor. The average office or factory
worker often fails to understand the instructions
because they are either written in "computerees"
or so poorly organized as to be incomprehensible.
Viking Waters understands the frustration of
the user when faced with poorly-written documentation.
We pride ourselves on the quality of the documentation
we produce. The systems we produce for you will
be properly documented, both to your standards
and to the requirements of your eventual users. And we can upgrade your existing documentaion if needed.

Our network experts will link your desktop
computers together or fine-tune your existing
internal networks.

Changes
to Existing Software
|
|
Your best analysts and programmers are hard
at work on the new system that will launch the
company into the 21st century. They're up against
a deadline and putting in 12 hours a day 7 days
a week.
And to make matters worse, the programmer you
held back for maintenance was called up with
his reserve unit.
However, your boss needs some major changes
to an existing system to match a new feature
offered by the competition.
Time to call Viking Waters for a virtual assistant or an on-site programmer.
Our people are experts at finding the best
way to design a change or upgrade existing systems
while ignoring the pitfalls.
|
|
|
|
A project isn't over just because the programs
are installed and the documentation is complete.
The people who need to use the new system on
a day-to-day basis have to be trained in its
use.
We don't consider our job complete until your
people are comfortably trained to use the new
system and its tools.
Viking Waters can also assist you to set up
training programs for other systems that you
may already have in-house or may have newly
acquired.
|
|
|
| Viking Waters has virtual assistants consultants who
can teach you to use desktop computers, networks,
and the Internet as strategic weapons in today's
highly competitive world. We can also help you
simplify your life and your systems to make them
easier to understand, maintain, and modify. |

What is a
Blade Server?
|
|
Slim, hotswappable blade servers fit
in a single chassis like books in a bookshelf -- and
each is an independent server, with its own processors,
memory, storage, network controllers, operating system
and applications. The blade server simply slides into
a bay in the chassis and plugs into a mid- or backplane,
sharing power, fans, floppy drives, switches, and ports
with other blade servers.
The benefits of the blade approach
will be obvious to anyone tasked with running down hundreds
of cables strung through racks just to add and remove
servers. With switches and power units shared, precious
space is freed up -- and blade servers enable higher
density with far greater ease.

History of
the PC
|
|
When IBM decided to enter the microcomputer
market, the microcomputer was already becoming fairly
popular. Apple was the leader in the field, but there
were quite a few other players including Tandy (Radio
Shack). One of the hottest chips on the market was the
Z80 by a company called Zylog. Apple was using Motorola
chips. Tandy used chips from a variety of manufacturers
depending upon the machine they were manufacturing.
64K was a lot of memory.

Designing and programming a website
is just the first step. If no one sees the site, it's
worthless.
The design requires careful thought.
Who is going to visit? Do you expect more than one type
of visitor? Where do you want each type of visitor to
go? What do you want the visitor to see?
The toughest job is to get the site
to show up on page one of a keyword search. This is
a task that is fraught with perils. If done incorrectly,
the site will languish on the back pages of search engine
results. Worst case, the new site could be blacklisted
if the promotional techniques used violate the rules
set by a search engine.

Instead of simply dealing with local
or regional concerns, many businesses now have to think
about global markets and logistics. Many companies have
facilities spread out across the country or around the
world, and there is one thing that all of them need:
A way to maintain fast, secure and reliable communications
wherever their offices are located.

Businesses are increasingly learning
that technology and software alone cannot make a Customer

Windows NT
Does run Plug and Play
|
|
Microsoft has worked hard to hide the
"Plug and pray" function in NT, but you can
install it easily.
Insert your NT CD-ROM. Locate the Drvlib\Pnpisa\x86
folder. Right click on pnpisa.inf and choose
"install". The system will ask you
to reboot your computer to complete the installation.
Double-check in Services in
the Control Panel to make sure it will run automatically
on reboot.
