Research from consulting firm InfoTech indicates that WLAN
can penetrate 80% of U.S. enterprises by 2008. "Although
WLAN technologies are currently deployed in nearly half of
all U.S. businesses, 75% have limited deployment . . . to
a tenth of their total workforce." They indicate that
penetration will be slow until applications such as voice
over wireless LAN are provided by "market-leading"
enterprises.
During the same time period, in-building wireless mobile
business users will rise from 14.8 million to 30.8, which
represents 40% of the mobile workforce.
